Performers
Eily is the owner of Sweetwater Strings and has been manager, event planner and performer for over a thousand events since its founding in 2007. She is classically trained, performed in several professional orchestras and conducted high school orchestra for ten years. She specializes in contemporary covers for strings as well as Celtic and cultural music.
Jen holds a Bachelor's Degree with Honors in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Wisconsin, and a Master's Degree from NAU. She has had an extensive career teaching school orchestra, and has been teaching for the Mesa Public Schools district for over 20 years. In addition to being the main cellist for Sweetwater Strings since 2009, she currently is the Assistant Principal Cellist with the Chandler Symphony.
Kevin is a world class musician and has worked for Sweetwater Strings since 2012 on weddings, corporate events and in the recording studio. Kevin trained at the famed Juilliard School in New York City and has been deeply involved in the Phoenix music scene for decades. Kevin has an outgoing personality, which is clearly evident in his performance style. With his expertise in audio, he also handles AV for events and performs as a DJ, often intertwining live performance along with tracks.
Myra has been performing as recitalist and chamber musician to audiences throughout the United States, Canada and Europe for over 30 years. She has performed recitals throughout the United States and served as concertmistress in several professional orchestras, including the Arizona Opera and the Scottsdale Philharmonic. In addition to being a first violinist with Sweetwater Strings, she also manages the music library and composes a broad range of repertoire for public performance.
Alla is a professional harpist living in Gilbert, Arizona. She has been playing since the age of 8 and studied in musical conservatory in Russia, earning her Masters Degree in music. She is an accomplished performer, traveling through Asia and Europe, and has performed hundreds of events in the States.
Colleen has been playing the guitar since she was nine and performing since she was sixteen. A classically trained guitarist, she has performed in hundreds of weddings and other special events around the Valley for the past 16 years. She is versed in the classical, jazz, acoustic, and Celtic styles, and is also the founding member of the Celtic band, Kilted Spirit. In addition, she performs as a vocalist and flutist.
Renee is currently the Principal Cellist with the Scottsdale Philharmonic and is actively involved with the Four Seasons Orchestra. In previous years she played professionally for the State of Mexico Orchestra and String Sounds, and currently teaches the cello at Mesa Community College as well as her private studio.
Chrystal studied violin performance at Ohio University and Arizona State University. As a founding member of the Tetra String Quartet, she performed hundreds of chamber music concerts in the United States, South America, and Europe. Chrystal is also a passionate music educator, and has a deep love of teaching private lessons, coaching ensembles, and working with school orchestra programs.
Sue is an experienced performer who has been playing violin since age 5. She has her BA in Music Performance and specializes in all types of music from classical to traditional (African, Haitian, mariachi) to jazz and hip-hop.
Lauren is an experienced performer who has been playing the violin since the age of 5. She studied violin performance at U of A, playing with the Arizona Symphony and UA Philharmonic. Lauren enjoys teaching private lessons and performing for events, recording artists, churches and specialty concerts.
Cathy is an experienced musician hailing from California, who now currently performs professionally with multiple orchestras and bands across Arizona.
Genevieve is a high energy performer who was trained in the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia, and specializes in contemporary covers combined with movement. She has performed with professional orchestras around the world and is the founder of several chamber music ensembles.
Alexis Pillow currently is in her 12th year teaching orchestra in Mesa Public Schools. She plays viola with the Sweetwater Strings Quartet, Scottsdale Philharmonic, and various churches around the valley.
Lali is originally from the L.A. area, where she studied with several members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, played for film studio orchestras, and performed in symphonies. She teaches privately and plays with local symphonies, including Symphony of the Southwest , Musica Nova, and the Four Seasons Orchestra. She is a proficient pianist and accompanist, and also performs with her guitarist husband in the duo Café Stringz, specializing in fiddle music from Cajun, country and Celtic styles.
In addition to playing as a violist in the Sweetwater Strings group, Carolyn is the Principal Violist with the Scottsdale Philharmonic. She is also the conductor and artistic manager of the Four Seasons Orchestra of Scottsdale and earned her Doctorate in Viola Solo Performance from Arizona State University. Carolyn has been performing in string quartets since the age of twelve, performing all styles including Classical, Baroque and contemporary music.
Stacey is a violinist/violist who graduated from NAU with a degree in Instrumental Performance. She has performed with many diverse groups on stage from the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra to the Trans Siberian Orchestra and Evanescence. She resides in Mesa, AZ and has 3 wonderful children and a loving husband.
Alex received his DMA in guitar performance from Arizona State University and his Bachelor's and Master of Arts degrees from Manness College of Music. He is currently on the staff of Scottsdale Community College as an adjunct guitar professor. Coming from an eclectic musical background, his first loves were jazz, fusion and blues. Together with Sweetwater Strings’ violinist Myra they perform as La Belle Epoque, a duo that performs formal concerts of 18th century music.
Crag is a multi-instrumentalist with years of performance. He traveling internationally performing for decades on cruise ships for large audiences, and is both classically trained and versed in pop standards and accompaniment.
